Jungleland 1   Notes: 1. 14.07.1974 - The Bottom Line, New York, NY   The Complete Bottom Line WNEW FM Broadcast New York, Bottom Line, August 15th, 1975   Brucebase Info (15.08.1975) Two separate admission shows, 8:30pm. and 11:30pm. The first (early) show was broadcast live by New York’s influential WNEW-FM, and it was a cannibalized home taping of this show off the radio that appeared on the very first-ever Springsteen vinyl bootleg ‘Bruce Springsteen Live’ (Coral Records) in late 1975. However this boot, as well as countless permutations of the performance that came afterwards, was heavily edited, with no in-between song chatter/stories and, in some instances, tracks missing. However the best sound quality release of this show, including (for the first time ever) the entire broadcast without edits, can be found on the CDR "The Way It Was - The Complete Bottom Line Broadcast", and subsequently the CD ‘The Punk Meets The Godfather' (Godfather) and CDR 'The Bottom Line On The Bottom Line' (Hot Stuff). No audio of the late (second) show circulates, but the setlist above has been contributed to Killing Floor by an attendee. "For You" is performed solo at the piano, while "Thunder Road" is full-band at the late show (it is the slow version with Roy on piano and Bruce on harmonica and vocals at the early show). The setlist would also include the only known 1975 performance of the rhythm and blues standard "Route 66".   More Info Broadcast on WNEW-FM in New York, NY, this show possibly represents the beginning of modern Bruce. Bruce had just completed the marathon recording sessions for Born to Run and the tour was ready to start. After a few warm-up gigs, the band hit the Big Apple and began their quest for super-stardom. Unfortunately, the hype started here as well, which culminated in the simultaneous cover stories on Newsweek and Time in October 1975. This show can be nominated as being among the best ever. The radio broadcast led to one of the first vinyl bootlegs back in 1976 called "The Great White Boss" (an allusion to the first bootleg ever, "The Great White Hope" of early Dylan demos). The show was later released on the CD "Live at The Bottom Line." In mid-2004, a fan was able to locate recording of the entire broadcast, DJ chatter and all, and "released" a more complete version called "The Way It Was."
